Why Did I Get This? Because you subscribed, you know me, or we’ve got a meaningful connection. And if you’re one of the thousands of readers who’ve joined us over the summer: special welcome to Team Silas. This is a once-a-month letter where I share news about my writing. Announcements are always near the top for those who need to skim. And if it ever feels like too much, the unsubscribe link is at the bottom.
AUDIOBOOK: LIVE
The audiobook version of The Washashore has dropped and the book is now available as a listen. It is available on all major platforms from Audible and Spotify to Kobo, Google Play and Storytel, with Apple soon to follow.
Mystery series with office hours? Once a month, I’m letting the readers take over. Ask about the books, the characters, Provincetown, writing, research, what’s coming next. No homework. No need to have read everything—or anything. Just drop in, say hello, and see what you think. Free, on Zoom. Slack Tide: The Silas Lopez Readers’ Club. First gathering: October 7, 4 p.m. ET
I was thrilled to be one of the local authors selected from a large pool of applicants to do a reading from The Holdfast at the Provincetown Book Festival.
I’ve really enjoyed Annie Hartnett’s posts from her tour this summer so I was delighted to finally catch up with The Road to Tender Hearts. Hilarious, heartwarming, harsh, human, heartbreaking—Hartnett. Way too madcap to summarize. Just read it or listen to it; you’ll thank me.
Special shoutout regarding the documentary Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World, directed and produced by Sasha Waters and released by PBS’s American Masters series. Fascinating insights about the life of a nonconformist artist, great overview of her trauma-fueled, Pulitzer Prize-winning work, and wonderful history of the Provincetown she called home.
If you’re reading this, you’re one of the people who have given me that most precious commodity: your attention. I don’t take that lightly.
If you know a person (or a book club!) who might get a kick out of the Silas Lopez Mysteries—or these newsletters—please feel free to pass this along. Word of mouth really does matter.
If something here caught your eye, I always enjoy hearing back. And if you prefer longer-form pieces, I post those on the blog.
This newsletter occasionally uses affiliate links to Bookshop.org. If you purchase a book through one of these links, you’re helping support local bookstores and authors—and I may also earn a few pennies in commission at no additional cost to you.
